Opportunity:
As a Traveling Production Technician at Vertosa, you’ll manufacture industry-leading products in the most innovative sector of the cannabis and hemp markets. Your reputation as a detail-oriented person who can tackle any task, troubleshoot unexpected issues, and work independently in a fast-moving, physically demanding environment will support our expansion into new markets. As the consummate team player, you’ll effectively collaborate with other departments to deliver seamless service that reflects our clients’ unique and ever-changing needs. By the end of your first year, you’ll have gained a deep understanding of our manufacturing and fulfillment processes, executed production autonomously in several states, and established yourself as a high-performing contributor who positively impacts operational efficiency and company culture.
Responsibilities:
- Execute production per company policies and procedures to ensure product integrity at Vertosa headquarters and independently at partner locations throughout the US and Canada.
- Perform quality control tests on ingredients, product samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Support fulfillment and logistics in collaboration with other departments and external partners to ensure on-time delivery and issue resolution.
- Perform basic chemical research and assist in the analysis of retrieved data.
- Assist with and execute testing, calibration, and preventative maintenance of lab equipment.
- Support the development of best practices and formal SOPs for production and logistics, including those involving ingredients, packaging, and lab equipment.
- Aid in the collection and analysis of production data to optimize operations.
- Travel 25 - 50% of a given month to execute production at partner locations in the US.
Job requirements:
- Based in the Bay Area as of the start date for this role.
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of experience in laboratory science, cannabis production, or food manufacturing environments requiring frequent physical activity, including lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a high-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of basic analytical chemistry terms and tools.
- Experience with lab equipment management, troubleshooting, and repair required.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. individually and up to 200 lbs. with the assistance of others.
- Availability to travel up to 2 weeks at a time with sufficient notice to the continental US and Canada.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to rent and operate a vehicle in the US.
- Valid US passport to support regulatory registration in US markets.
- Physical copy of U.S. Social Security card to support employee badging in US markets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present scientific information clearly and concisely.
- Must be a passionate champion for cannabis, although Vertosa does not require cannabis consumption for any employees.
