Responsibilities
- Schedule surgical procedures by coordinating with surgeons, patients, and other medical staff.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the electronic health record system, preferably eClinicalWorks.
- Verify insurance information and obtain necessary authorizations for procedures.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding pre-operative instructions and follow-up appointments.
- Manage phone systems to handle incoming calls and inquiries related to surgery scheduling.
- File and organize medical records, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
- Assist in coding procedures using ICD-10 or other relevant coding systems as needed.
- Collaborate with the medical team to streamline scheduling processes and improve patient flow.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a medical office or dental office setting is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in managing medical records and familiarity with electronic health record systems such as eClinicalWorks.
- Strong understanding of surgical procedures and related terminology.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Familiarity with coding practices, particularly ICD-10, is preferred.
- Proficient computer skills for data entry and management of scheduling software.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally with patients and healthcare providers.
