What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) position at Verve Behavioral Health?
Verve Behavioral Health is seeking a part-time psychiatric nurse practitioner to primarily support our executive IOP evening program with one daytime shift per week. The PMHNP works directly with patients to deliver expert care to those experiencing complex mental health and substance use disorders. This is a high-impact, patient-facing role, which involves delivering compassionate and empathetic care as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage care for individuals suffering from complex substance use and/or mental health disorders and related comorbidities.
- Develop a therapeutic alliance with patients and aid them in working toward their goals for care.
- Coordinate with the Medical Director regarding treatment plans, adjusting as needed.
- Provide patient care coverage during vacation periods for other providers, on request.
- Effectively use technology to maximize the patient experience.
- Interpret and share lab results with patients and treatment team.
- Enable care coordination, connecting with patients’ outside providers and referring patients to clinical resources outside of Verve where necessary.

Requirements
- Ability to work in-person in Verve’s stunning Dupont Circle space two evenings with room for more hours in the future as we expand (approximately 6 hours weekly). We will also need some coverage when our medical director is on PTO during the day.
- Experience managing mental illness and substance use disorders, including experience in medication-assisted recovery.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team; outstanding communication and collaboration.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records.
- Able to learn new technologies quickly.
- A graduate-level degree from a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner program.
- ANCC Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
- Licensed APRN in the District of Columbia.
- Active DC controlled substance license and ability to obtain a non-restricted DEA license.

Pay: $100.00 - $121.09 per hour
