Job Summary
Provide exceptional guest service, ensure guest safety, and enforce all aquatic rules. Lifeguards are expected to respond to aquatic and on-land emergencies, providing medical care as trained. Lifeguards will rotate positions throughout shifts to maintain keen observation alertness and to ensure that swimming conditions are safe in all pools and surrounding areas. In addition, all lifeguards will be expected to work as a team to sustain a clean, safe, and welcoming facility for members and guests.
JOB DUTIES:
· Prepare pool for daily opening: check bathroom cleanliness, clean up pool debris, check lifeguard schedule for current day, ensure towels are restocked, check trash level, place rescue tubes around pool, vacuum pool (if needed)
- Rotate positions during shift to observe swimmers and ensure safety.
- Care to swimmer's minor injuries, such as small cuts and bruises
- Respond to emergency action plan when required.
- Must know and correctly enforce inclement weather policy.
- Enforce pool rules for the safety of all swimmers.
- Take out trash throughout shift (as needed)
- Inform head lifeguards about unresolved member or guest disputes.
- Perform pool closing duties.
- Exemplify great service, attention to detail and work ethic always.
- Helps maintain a positive, safe, and professional working environment and helps promote the service of all members and guest.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess a valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR Certificate
- Must have the knowledge of water rescue methods, lifeguarding, first-aid practices, and techniques, and possess the ability to carry out water rescues.
- Must have patience with children and adults.
- Must be on time and correctly dressed for all work shifts.
- Must attend in-service trainings throughout summer months.
- Must be available for scheduled work on evenings, weekends, or holidays (Please see employ handbook)
- Requires long period of sitting, standing, and water contact.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills, attention to detail, excellent organizational skills.
- Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating professionally and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organization.
- Organizational skills for efficient office control are mandatory.
- Interact professionally with other employees, members and guests and work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
- Perform quality work within deadlines.
- Must be available for emergency and scheduled work requirements on evenings, weekends, or holidays.
- Must be available to work flexible shifts and overtime if necessary.
- Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 30 lbs.
- Essential hand/eye coordination.
- Substantial repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
- Must be available for emergency and scheduled work requirements on evenings, weekends, or holidays.
- Must be available to work flexible shifts and overtime if necessary.
- Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
