This position requires technical, organizational and interpersonal skills as this person is called on to engage in and coordinate design, estimate materials and develop drawings for installation of refractory linings for customer vessels and material applications. Primary focus within the Aluminum Engineering team located in Graham, NC. There is also a secondary need to assist Engineering teams in other locations in support of various industrial markets, including Power Generation, Cement, Non-Ferrous Metals, Foundry and Iron & Steel markets. The ability to interface well with Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, other Engineering personnel and Customers is necessary to complete projects in a timely manner.
This position can be located either in Graham, NC or Charlotte, NC

Key Responsibilities
- Design and produce Engineered refractory drawings for new equipment and equipment modification in various industrial applications.
- Generate estimates and bills of material for assigned projects.
- Manage CAD System including:
- Programming / Customization
- Document Archives
- System Development
- System Hardware & Software maintenance (manage AutoCAD license)
- Emergency Data Retrieval
- Coordinate requests, manage Engineering Request System, maintain weekly drafting & estimating schedule.
- Review customer drawings for compliance to approved practices and confirm scope of contracts and estimate requests.
- Attend occasional jobsite visits to confirm design aspects of customer equipment.
- Demonstrate understanding of the in-house manufacturing methods and product ordering, costing, routing, packaging, and associated documents of the applicable refractory products.
- Provide monthly report of activities, projects, and allocation of workload by market to M&T Manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the M&T Manager
- Preferred BS degree in Engineering (Ceramics, Materials, Mechanical, Industrial)
- Excellent skills with AutoCAD (2D drafting) & Inventor (3D modelling) is required.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office is also required, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong math skills
- 2-3 years refractory (or similar) designing, estimating and drafting experience for refractory applications is a plus
- Proficiency with AutoCAD & Inventor design software
- Good technical knowledge & understanding of good drafting practices.
- Knowledge of application methods of Vesuvius and competitor products is preferred.
