What are the responsibilities and job description for the GP House Call Veterinarian position at Vet At Your Door, P.C.?
Discover a Veterinary Career That’s Truly Different
At Vet At Your Door, we’re redefining what it means to practice veterinary medicine. As a privately owned, house call veterinary practice, we offer you the chance to deliver personalized care in a relaxed environment while enjoying a schedule that truly values your time. We’re seeking a compassionate and skilled GP veterinarian to lead a Brunswick-based team and make a difference for pets and their families in the comfort of their homes.
Why Choose Vet At Your Door?
- The Best Clients and Meaningful Relationships:Our clients are kind, engaged pet owners who value your expertise and are dedicated to their pets’ well-being. By visiting them in their homes, you’ll develop lasting relationships as their trusted primary care provider. Clients appreciate your role and often express gratitude through thoughtful notes and gestures, especially after end-of-life care.
- Concierge-Level Care in a Relaxed Environment:With manageable caseloads, you’ll see an average of 6-7 households per day, allowing you to focus on personalized, high-quality medicine that truly makes a difference. Home visits create a calm, low-stress experience for pets, clients, and our team alike.
- Supportive Team Model:Lead your own dedicated team, including an exceptional, experienced veterinary technician and client liaison, who are there to support you every step of the way. This close-knit team ensures visits run smoothly, handles client communication, and helps you focus on what you do best—practicing great medicine.
- A Schedule That Respects Your Time:Enjoy a four-day workweek with no weekends, giving you time to recharge and maintain balance while delivering outstanding care.
- Privately Owned, No Corporate Strings:As a privately owned practice, we’re committed to prioritizing excellent care for pets and unwavering support for our team—without corporate pressures or quotas.
About the Role
- Location: Based out of our office in Brunswick, Maine, you'll use a well-maintained practice vehicle for your rounds.
- Appointments: Provide general practice services in clients’ homes, including wellness care, sick visits, diagnostics, chronic disease management, quality-of-life evaluations, and euthanasia (about 5-10% of visits). We have wonderful relationships with several local practices where we refer for things like surgery and x-rays.
- Practice Philosophy: Our approach emphasizes proactive, health-focused care, preventive medicine, and client education to enhance the quality and longevity of pets’ lives. We like to “go deep” with each patient - quality over quantity.
Benefits and Compensation
- Premium Pro-Sal Model: Earn 21-23% production, alongside a base salary, for your expertise.
- Health, Vision, and Dental Insurance: Available for team members working 30 hours per week.
- Paid Time Off: PTO grows more generous the longer you’re with us.
- Four-Day Workweek, No Weekends: Enjoy a schedule designed with your work-life balance in mind.
- Additional Perks: Life insurance, short- and long-term disability, SIMPLE IRA with 3% match, and continuing education allowance / PTO.
