This is a remote role, but requires west coast hours and west coast travel. Candidate must reside on the west coast.
A Day in the Life
As the Business Development Manager – Defense , your mission is to develop, strengthen, and expand NSA’s relationships within the Department of Defense, military branches, and government contracting space . Here’s what that looks like :
- Building Relationships : You’ll work closely with distributors, supply officers, contracting officers, and key decision-makers to introduce NSA’s innovative protective gear.
- Traveling to Military Installations & Defense Partners : Expect to be on the move, meeting with clients onsite and face-to-face —whether that’s a Naval base, military supply depot, or government procurement office.
- Sales Strategy & Execution : You’ll manage a defined West Coast / Pacific Northwest sales territory , creating strategic sales plans, maintaining a pipeline in Salesforce , and hitting performance metrics.
- Presenting Cutting-Edge Protective Gear : You’ll provide product demonstrations and solutions that help warfighters, aviation crews, and government personnel stay safe in extreme environments.
- Understanding Military Procurement : This role requires familiarity with Berry Amendment compliance, TAA U.S.A. apparel manufacturing, military contracting processes, and funding requests.
- Closing Deals & Driving Revenue : Your focus is on winning new business and expanding NSA’s footprint in the defense sector.

What Success Looks Like
At the six-month mark , you should :
Have developed strong relationships with key distributors and military decision-makers in your territory.
Be actively closing deals and tracking sales performance in Salesforce.
Be confident in presenting and positioning NSA’s products in high-stakes sales conversations.
By the one-year mark , you should :
Have exceeded your sales targets and contributed to NSA’s expansion within the defense sector.
Have become a trusted partner for military procurement teams, driving repeat business.
Be a go-to expert on NSA’s defense product line , helping shape future sales strategies.

Requirements
Sales experience is preferred, but high-performing veterans with strong communications are also a target for this hiring manager.
Must have served in the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Space Force, U.S. Reserves, or U.S. National Guard.
Experience with government sales, defense contracting, or military procurement
Ability to travel extensively (including military base access)
Proficiency in MS Office, email communication, and CRM software (Salesforce experience preferred)
Strong financial acumen – must understand budgeting, cost-effective travel planning, and sales forecasting
Bachelor’s degree preferred , but equivalent sales experience accepted

Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
