We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Supplier Quality Development Engineer to join our team. In this critical role, you will collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to maintain the highest quality standards, drive continuous improvement, and mitigate risks across our supply chain. Your expertise will directly contribute to the development and delivery of reliable battery cell components.
Why This Role? As a Supplier Quality Development Engineer, you'll work at the intersection of engineering, quality assurance, and supplier relationships. What You'll Do :
Supplier Accountability :
- Lead efforts to hold suppliers accountable for part quality issues impacting production.
- Ensure timely closure of supplier corrective actions and document resolution steps for future reference.
Cross-Functional Collaboration :
Work closely with Manufacturing teams (Mechanical / Chemical Engineers), Quality Engineering, Design, and other stakeholders to address and resolve quality issues effectively.Failure Analysis & Containment :
Conduct failure analysis of defective components and collaborate with suppliers on short-term containment actions and long-term corrective measures.Manage the SCAR (Supplier Corrective Action Request) process to drive accountability and resolution.On-Site Support :
Provide hands-on support at manufacturing sites to collect and analyze supplier quality data.Identify trends and collaborate with engineering and failure analysis teams to implement corrective actions.Process Improvement :
Proactively identify opportunities to enhance processes, improve part quality, and increase operational efficiency.Use statistical analysis, lean methodologies, and project management tools to drive process improvements.Documentation & Reporting :
Maintain detailed documentation on supplier quality performance, including reports, presentations, and metrics.Communicate findings and recommendations to management and cross-functional teams.Risk Management :
Assess supplier quality risks and develop mitigation strategies.Facilitate risk assessments, such as PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), to ensure proactive quality management.Supplier Development :
Collaborate with suppliers to improve their processes and systems, aligning with quality expectations.Conduct supplier audits and assessments to evaluate quality management systems and capabilities.Training and Support :
Provide training and support to internal teams and suppliers on quality standards, methodologies, and best practices.Foster a culture of quality throughout the supply chain.Compliance and Standards :
Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal quality protocols.Stay updated on relevant regulations and industry trends to maintain best practices in supplier quality management.Who Should Apply? Requirements
Qualifications :
Must have served in U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Space Force, U.S. Reserves, or U.S. National Guard.Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing engineering, or related roles within a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably in the battery or electronics sectors.Strong understanding of PPAP / APQP processes, statistical process control (SPC), GD&T, and lean manufacturing principles.Familiarity with ISO9001, IATF 16949, and specific quality performance improvement requirements.Proven ability to apply quality problem-solving methodologies, such as FMEA, fishbone diagrams, process capability analysis, and 8D reporting.Experience in implementing corrective and preventive actions.Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably SAP), data analysis tools, and quality management software.Knowledge of MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), safety systems related to manufacturing processes, and materials / components used in production is advantageous.Excellent communication skills (English required; Mandarin preferred) and cultural competency for working with international suppliers.Willingness to travel internationally as needed.Benefits
