Job Description
Dermatologist opportunity at the Beckley VA Medical Center
Duties :
- Evaluate and treat skin conditions and interpret studies.
- Be an integral member of the Dermatology clinic and provide medical oversight.
- Interpret skin lesions, diagnose, treat, or recommend treatment for diseases of the dermis system.
- Provide care for conditions including evaluating patients' skin condition, assess and updating patients' medical history, keeping a record of patients' symptoms.
- Analyze all information regarding skin health conditions, prescribe medication, inform patients about available treatments, monitor the effectiveness of skin treatments.
- Conduct non-intrusive medical surgeries, educate patients on preventive skin care, refer patients to other specialists if needed.
- Attend conferences and seminars to learn about new medical techniques and topics and provide inpatient treatment or recommendations of treatment through consultation to other providers in the ICU, ED or inpatient hospital setting.
- Direct patient care in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Provide diagnosis and treatment for adult patients presenting with conditions that are applicable to his / her practice, training, experience or current competence.
- Provide treatment of skin diseases and disorders in an outpatient setting, provide consultation services in an inpatient setting or emergent need.
- Perform minor procedures per credentialing and privileging approvals.
- Order routine diagnostic imaging studies and labs.
- Participate actively in performance improvement and attend assigned meetings or process action teams. Work collaboratively with other specialties.
- Follow VA directives and policies and maintain current in Basic Life Support (BLS) and if required Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Possess computer skills to access and input typed data on each patient into the computerized patient record system (CPRS).
- Use masks, gloves, and safety glasses to protect patients and themselves from infectious diseases.
