Basic Requirements :

  • United States Citizenship : Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved school.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience required as a staff / attending Ophthalmologist.
  • Completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Duties :

  • Make preliminary diagnosis and provide treatment.
  • Arrange for specialized care or patient referral as required.
  • Provide comprehensive ophthalmology care including prevention, health maintenance, early diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up services to patients.
  • Conduct outpatient clinics and modify management plans as indicated.
  • Perform and supervise retinal laser procedures.
  • Document services through appropriate notes.
  • Serve as a consultant to primary care physicians.
  • Function in a teaching capacity for patients and staff.
  • Participate in the Surgical Department Quality Assurance and Peer Review programs.
  • Work on clinic productivity and relevant performance measures.
  • Work Schedule : Monday - Friday, 7 : 00 am - 3 : 30 pm
