Summary The Transportation Assistant acts as the primary contact to Veterans for transportation needs, working with the Veteran Transportation Service (VTS) Supervisory Mobility Manager for transportation workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, and quality improvement implementation, modification of processes, evaluation, and ongoing operational flow of the VTS program. This position is located at the VA Medical Center, Leeds, Massachusetts. Responsibilities THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION Major duties include but are not limited to : Performs work involving consult management, appointment scheduling, and admissions scheduling. Collects, compiles, and tracks data and statistical information in support of Veteran Transportation Service (VTS). Performs a basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports. Reviews documents, reports and / or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate. Maintains automated system of program specific data to track items such as service project milestones, progress reports, program trends, performance measures, etc. Enters pertinent information into an automated tracking system. Coordinates service practices that decrease waits and delays for patients in all specialty areas. Utilizes the Veterans Health Information System & Technological Architecture (VISTA), Computerized Patient Record Systems (CPRS) or SharePoint Consult / Request Tracking System in processing internal consultations. Plans, organizes, administers, and directs how the work will be accomplished for the VTS program. Coordinates the day-to-day operation of VTS program flow, processes, and functions. Plans and provides support services in the following types of program areas : electronic records management; driver scheduling setup & management; space utilization services. Provides advice to operating managers and supervisors on how provided services assist in accomplishing their missions and programs. Interacts with other transportation services such as Emergency Medical Service (EMS), Volunteer Transportation Network (VTN), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and other providers. Performs other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule : Monday - Friday, 7 : 30am - 4 : 00pm. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes collecting, compiling, tracking and analyzing data and statistical information in support of transportation; contacting customers to determine transportation needs and requirements; managing schedules for daily activities; entering information into an automated tracking system; and communicating and treating customers in a courteous, tactful and respectful manner.
