The Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) at the Jefferson Barracks VA Medical Center in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Human Resource Assistant. As a Human Resources Assistant, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Recruitment and Placement Human Resource Specialists in the VCS Central Office.
DUTIES:
Duties include, but may not be limited to the following
Job Postings & Advertising: Support the HR team by posting job openings and managing recruitment ads across various platforms.
Applicant Tracking & Data Management: Maintain and update job openings in the applicant tracking system (ATS) to ensure accuracy and make recommendations based on the data collected.
Hiring Manager Support: Assist managers with recruiting tools and processes to streamline hiring efforts.
Career Fairs & Recruiting Events: Coordinate and participate in job fairs and other hiring events to attract top talent. Research and utilize local recruiting resources while also leveraging social media.
Background Checks & Verification: Handle administrative tasks such as background checks and reference verifications to ensure compliance and a well-coordinated hiring experience.
Reports & Presentations: Create reports, letters, and presentations using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and provide to leadership as requested.
Additional Responsibilities & Flexibility: Perform and adapt to additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:
Experience & Qualifications: A minimum of one year of recruiting experience is required. The ideal candidate will possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the responsibilities of this role.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in operating computer systems, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Time Management & Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is required for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). Participation in the seasonal influenza program is a condition of employment. It is a requirement that all HCP receive the annual seasonal influenza vaccination or obtain an exemption for medical or religious reasons.
