Job Summary: Elementary Special Education Teacher (Multiple Disabilities)
The special educator will support grade level classrooms and the diverse needs of students with a range of disabilities. The special educator will have experience with elementary school age students (PK-2) with mild-moderate-severe and/or multiple disabilities and have the capacity to foster a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment that promotes academic excellence, social growth, and emotional well-being. This role involves collaborating with teachers, staff, students, and parents to achieve the school’s mission and goals.
Experience and Responsibility:
3 years teaching experience
Experience with communication devices
Current, valid MA DESE Certification in Mild/Moderate Special Needs
Strong passion and prior lead teacher experience working with students with moderate special needs
Proven communication and organizational skills
Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, support staff and administration
Ability to communicate with and manage support staff
Experience with IEP writing, evaluation and report writing skills
Other responsibilities deemed appropriate and assigned by the Principal and/or PPS Director.
Responsible to the Building Principal and Director of PPS where appropriate
