What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterans Employment and Training Services (VETS) Coordinator position at Veterans Florida?
Summary: Veterans Florida offers career, SkillBridge, and entrepreneur resources and training to separating or retiring servicemembers of the United States Armed Forces, military veterans, and their spouses who live in or plan to live in Florida.
The Veterans Employment and Training Services (VETS) Coordinator is responsible for conducting intake screens with individuals who complete webforms or who are engaged with at military and veteran job fairs for possible matching with Veterans Florida services and for referrals to partner organizations. The new VETS Coordnator will join a team with military veterans, report to the Executive Director, and support other members of the Veterans Florida team.
A Coordinator who performs well can be promoted to a Specialist in a year. A high performing Coordinator can be promoted to Specialist in under a year.
Duties:
- Contact individuals interested in our services (prospective customers) over the phone and email and make necessary updates in our customer management system software;
- Attend military and veteran job fairs and other outreach events throughout Florida and represent Veterans Florida and our partners (trainers, employers, etc.) to prospective customers;
- Provide information to prospective customers and assist with referrals to other veteran resources;
- Collaborate with other team members to accomplish additional projects as needed; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces with four or more years of service (active or reserve) achieving E-4 or higher rank or current member of the Reserves or National Guard;
- Comfortable working and contributing within a small team-based environment;
- Verbal and written communication skills;
- Comfortable using the phone to contact prospective customers.
- Attention to detail and accuracy while entering information into the team’s customer management system software.
- Computer literacy, including experience with cloud-based work-productivity software such as Google Apps and Drive, G Suite, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, etc.; and
- Ability to travel with the team throughout Florida.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year experience in a human resources, sales, customer service or similar role.
