This contract position offers the unique opportunity to apply your skills across a broad range of laboratory specialties while contributing to the diagnosis, treatment, and care of those who have served.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct a wide variety of manual and automated laboratory procedures, including:
- Core Areas: Chemistry (endocrinology and toxicology), coagulation, hematology, immunology, microbiology, immunohematology, blood gases, and urinalysis.
- Phlebotomy: Perform blood collection and processing with professionalism and compassion.
Develop, evaluate, interpret, and validate laboratory tests, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.
Utilize independent judgment to address complex laboratory scenarios with minimal supervision.
Monitor quality control systems and measures to maintain the highest standards of patient care.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to support accurate diagnoses and effective treatments.
Provide education and guidance to fellow laboratory staff, healthcare professionals, and the public as needed.
Qualifications
Education and Certifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in medical laboratory science or a related field.
Certification by one of the following organizations:
- American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) – Board of Certification or Board of Registry.
- American Medical Technologist (AMT).
- American Association of Bioanalytic (AAB).
Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from an approved provider.
Experience and Skills:
- At least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience in a hospital or medical setting.
- Proficiency in both manual and automated laboratory techniques with a strong understanding of biological specimen testing.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret and validate laboratory results.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
