What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAMP COUNSELOR position at Veterans Park District?
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Supervise and guide children ages 5-13 through group games, crafts projects and activities.
- Follow and enhance weekly themes and lesson plans.
- Work cooperatively and communicates effectively with coworkers, camp supervisor and camp director.
- Maintain accurate attendance records, sign-in/out sheets and headcount/roll call logs.
- Adheres to policies and guidelines reviewed in trainings and as outlined in the staff manual.
- Assist in swimming instructors as needed.
WHAT REQUIREMENTS ARE NEEDED:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Ability to communicate effectively to children and adults.
- Be able to work outside in the heat and sun light for 7-8 hours.
- Must be able to stay calm in high stress situations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be customer service oriented, have a pleasant demeanor and cooperative attitude
- Must possess or be willing to obtain First Aid, CPR & AED Certification
WHEN YOU’LL WORK:
- 37-40 hours per week, schedule to work between the hours of 8a-6p
- Camp season runs from Tuesday, May 26 to Friday, August 1
- Mandatory Training: Monday, May 19 5-8p | Thursday, May 22 9a-1p
- First Aid, CPR &AED Training (if needed) Thursday, May 22 1-4p
- Meet & Greet Thursday, May 22 6-7p
