What are the responsibilities and job description for the LIFEGUARD position at Veterans Park District?
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible the safeguard and protection of the pool patrons.
- Respond to emergency situation in accordance with established methods and procedures.
- Enforce Park rules and regulations regarding pool activities.
- Administer first aid, CPR as necessary.
- Assist in swimming instructions and other organized aquatic activities.
WHAT REQUIREMENTS ARE NEEDED:
- Must be 16 years or older.
- Must be in good physical condition to lift a 160lb person from water, swim 200 meters, retrieve a 10lb brick from the bottom of 12ft depth, tread water for 2 minutes with no hands and pass the Ellis and Associated Lifeguard training program.
- Ability to meet and deal with the public.
- Be able to work outside in the heat and sun light for 6-8 hours.
- Must be able to stay calm in high stress situations.
WHEN YOU’LL WORK:
- 20-40 hours per week, weekend nights and holidays. Flexible schedules.
- Pool season runs from May 25 to September 2.
- Saturday – Sunday Shifts available between the hours of 12-6pm.
WHAT YOU’LL GET:
