Savage Wonder Arts (formerly VetRep), founded in February 2021, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to amplifying the voices and creativity of veteran playwrights and artists. Through live performance mediums—ranging from theater to festivals, gallery exhibitions, and immersive art experiences—we foster a unique space for artistic expression, community engagement, and storytelling.
In a significant milestone, Savage Wonder Arts has acquired a 12,000 sq. ft. historic venue in Beacon, NY. This new space will launch in May, featuring an art gallery, bookstore, wine bar, and parlor stage, with future phases adding a 60-seat variety stage and a 165-seat main stage. This transformative development allows us to integrate visual and culinary arts into our programming, furthering our mission of celebrating resilience and creativity within the veteran community and beyond.

Position Summary
The Chief Development Officer (CDO) is a dynamic role, combining donor engagement and prospecting for new partnerships to drive philanthropic growth. Working closely with senior leadership, the CDO will develop and implement the organization’s Development Plan to expand the donor base, secure sustainable financial support, and build strategic partnerships. This position oversees all aspects of fundraising, including individual donations, grants, government support, and special events.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Administration
- Commit to Savage Wonder Arts’ core values and principles as established by the Artistic Director and Board.
- Collaborate with the senior team on short- and long-term development plans, with a focus on sustainable philanthropic revenue growth to meet financial goals.
- Conduct prospect research, including exploration, qualification, cultivation, and relationship-building to close contributions.
