Job Overview:
This position is responsible for supervisory work over a large Veterans Cemetery. An employee in this class develops and implements cemetery production plans and procedures for, supervises, and participates in the operation of light and heavy equipment in the construction of roads, interments, setting headstones and landscaping work for the cemetery.
Key Responsibilities:
Reviews the information for the burial schedule including specifications related to equipment availability and weather. Meets with the director daily to discuss the previous and current activities of the day including reviewing employee attendance and daily work schedules. Utilizes communication skills in maintaining effective internal and external working relationships.Encourages a team building environment. Attends relevant National Cemetery Administration training classes. Completes administrative duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three years of full-time experience in either grounds maintenance or heavy equipment operation work.
Substitution of Education for Experience:
- Qualifying full-time grounds maintenance or heavy equipment operation experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Necessary Special Qualifications:
- Applicants for this class must possess a valid Tennessee Driver's License Operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles Lift heavy materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
