Who we are looking for:
We are looking for experienced veterinary assistants who are strong, empathetic communicators and have a good mix of common sense, a positive attitude and a respect and appreciation for the unique bond animals and humans can share. Ideal candidates have worked in general practice small animal veterinary medicine within the past five years and have a demonstrated working knowledge of basic veterinary medical terminology, lab sample collection/preparation, patient handling and general veterinary nursing care.
What you will do:
As a veterinary assistant, you will work alongside our veterinarians and veterinary technicians to assist with all aspects of patient care including but not limited to:
- patient handling and restraint
- preparing and administering medications, vaccinations and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians
- sterilization, cleaning and general upkeep of exam rooms, medical instruments, and materials
- client communication and education
- lab sample (blood, urine, feces) collection and prep
- database entry and medical record management
- inventory receipt, unpacking and restocking
