The Veterinary Clinic of Tinley Park is a small animal, single doctor practice located in the Chicagoland South Suburbs. Cynthia Cecott has been a veterinarian since 1995, opening my own clinic in 2008. I have a small staff who work well together and am looking to add to my team. Teamwork is constant in my daily practice and my team is dedicated to helping patients live long, healthy, fulfilled lives.
We are seeking a full-time or parttime Certified Veterinary Technician.
We are a full-service clinic, offering the best comprehensive care to our patients. We provide wellness care, preventative care, surgery, laboratory (full in-house and outside), imaging, and urgent care for our clients.
Technician Duties
· Performing an initial examination of the animal and taking vital signs, blood samples and medical histories
· Assisting and preparing what the Doctors will need for appointments
· Conducting X-rays and diagnostic tests and analyzing the results
· Providing emergency first aid and administering medications and vaccines
· Preparing animals and equipment for surgical procedures and assisting veterinarians during surgery
· Collecting specimens and performing laboratory procedures
· Communicating with pet owners and answering their questions
· Assisting in research on animal illnesses and behaviors
· Acquire cephalic, saphenous, and jugular blood samples
· Insert IV catheters and monitor anesthesia, ventilators, and fluid therapy.
· Process specimens in the in-house laboratory and submit specimens to outside laboratories
· Calculate medication dosages and provide dosage instructions for clients
· Enter patients’ service charges into the computer database and keep accurate patient records
Requirements
- Proven work experience as a Veterinary Technician or similar role
- Strong affinity for animals
- Outstanding people skills
- Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment
- Relevant training and/or certifications as a Veterinary Technician
Competitive salary or hourly wage, 401k, Insurance premium options, CE allowance/licensing, 2 Saturdays per month, deeply discounted personal pet care . Operating hours are Monday through Friday-8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 8a.m. to 12p.m.
