Veterinary Emergency Clinic is looking for a multi-talented individual to join their team in Port Charlotte, FL as a cross-trained Veterinary Assistant/Client Service Representative.
Veterinary Assistants and Client Service Representatives are valuable members of our medical teams and play a crucial role in patient care and client service. You will work closely with doctors and technicians to increase efficiency within our hospital as well as the level of care we provide as a team. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Greet patients, their pets, vendors, and other visitors to our emergency clinic
- Answer patient questions, provide assistance and directions when necessary
- Field all phone calls and send emails
- Register new patients and update necessary records
- Distribute forms and paperwork to patients and then check them over to ensure that required fields are completed appropriately
- Process bills, invoices, and patient payments in office
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient records
- Ensure that the waiting room environment remains quiet, calm, organized and welcoming
- Uphold the positive reputation of our emergency clinic by always treating visitors in a friendly, welcoming, and compassionate manner
- Animal handling and restraint
- Assist doctors and technicians with medical treatments, diagnostic tests, and procedures
- Obtain health history from clients and ensure documentation is accurate and complete within the electronic medical record
- Maintain cleanliness of treatment and patient areas
- Restock and organize medical supplies
- Constantly advance your knowledgebase and skill set
Skills and Qualifications:
- 2 years of professional experience in a veterinary clinical setting (CSR, kennel attendant, vet assistant, other), preferred
- Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve and handle multiple tasks
- Must have the ability to adjust to changes in the environment and able to handle stress in a calm manner
- Must be a team player, have patience and maintain a positive attitude.
- Must be able to anticipate and be detail oriented due to the high level of quality medicine. Must be able to lift and restrain pets of at least 40 pounds, and work on feet most of the day.

The Veterinary Emergency Clinic is an equipped trauma and emergency facility that offers many services. Our team members are trained to handle most life-threatening emergencies that can occur anytime during nights, weekends, and holidays. These emergencies include, but are not limited to, animals being hit by cars, gunshot wounds, lacerations, heatstroke, trouble breathing, fever, infection, snakebite wounds, seizures and many other conditions.
