Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Animal Hospital Sterilization Technician to join our team at the Veterinary Specialty Center in Bannockburn, IL. As an Animal Hospital Sterilization Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining a clean and orderly central processing work area, adhering to sterilization process policies and procedures, and ensuring that all instruments are properly cleaned, inspected, and sterilized.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean and orderly central processing work area (e.g. shelves, counters, equipment)
- Adhere to the sterilization process policies and procedures
- Clean each item according to manufacturer's instruction
- Inspect instruments for damage and defects; lubricate items as required
- Determine that each item is in good working condition
- Sort and arrange items into proper packs
- Wrap packs and individual items according to policy and procedure
- Accurately label each item with name and expiration date
- Correctly operate sterilizers, ultrasonic washer and other equipment for processing items
- Position items correctly in sterilizer and select proper cycles
- Check indicators for proper functioning
- Perform required biological/chemical monitoring tests on all sterilizers and maintain logs
- Maintain availability of supplies for continuity of recording throughout sterilization process
- Clean sterilizers according to established policies and procedures
- Maintain inventory levels and accurate records; Place items in correct locations
- Check for outdated items and package integrity of wrapped sterilized items; replace items as necessary
- Maintain and update the instrument inventory list
