What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced - ER/ICU Veterinary Technician position at Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Center?
VSEC in Thousand Oaks is looking to hire both full and part time, experienced veterinary technicians to help with our fast paced emergency department. We are looking to hire a qualified candidate to work swing shift during the week and one weekend day. We offer a consistent weekly schedule and are flexible on shift times.
Job Duties (include but not limited to):
- Handle and process specialty cases in ER, triage
- Demonstrate proper restraint and techniques for procedures and radiology
- Create and review estimates with clients for procedures
- Patient care (phlebotomy, IVC placement, medication administration, nursing tasks)
- Assist doctors with patient care
- Drug Calculations
- Induce, maintain/monitor, troubleshoot and recover patients from general anesthesia
- Organize and maintain hospitalized cases
Job Requirements:
- Current California RVT preferred but not required
- Applicant must be flexible with schedule, since we are open 24/7/365, night, weekend and holiday work is required depending on position/department.
- Applicant must be able to lift 50 lbs. and be able to stand for long periods
- This person (s) should also be patient, enthusiastic, reliable, have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Applicant must be able to multitask efficiently
- Applicant must be able to handle a high volume case load in a fast paced environment
- Experience as a veterinary technician >3 yr. strongly preferred
- Experience in specialty (preferred), we are willing to train the right candidate
