An average day :
As Database Architect II, you will be responsible for supporting the development and optimization of an organization's data structures. This position will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance performance, ensure high data quality, and facilitate the smooth flow of information across classified and unclassified environments. In this position you will :
Oversee design, implementation, and maintenance of bronze, silver, and gold data tablesOptimize query performance, indexing strategies, and resource utilization for scalable data solutionsImplement and refine database schema designs to align with evolving business requirementsCoordinate with AI / ML teams to structure data sets and support advanced analytical needsLead the development and maintenance of automated data pipelines, including CI / CD workflowsEnforce data security best practices, managing roles, permissions, and encryption mechanismsCollaborate in data governance initiatives, ensuring data quality, lineage, and compliance standardsDevelop and maintain documentation for data architecture, workflows, and processesConduct automated unit and integration testing to ensure database reliability and performanceImplement backup and recovery solutions to safeguard critical data assetsParticipate in code reviews and offer mentorship to junior team membersIdentify areas for improvement and recommend optimization strategies for existing systemsEngage in troubleshooting and resolving database-related issuesContribute to ongoing enhancements of operational efficiency and best practicesAssist in Data Migration and Integration Efforts - Support the transition of data between systems by helping with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes and ensuring data consistency across different platforms.Monitor and Troubleshoot Database Performance Issues - Identify potential bottlenecks, perform root cause analysis, and work with senior architects to implement solutions that enhance database reliability and efficiency.Support Compliance and Regulatory Requirements - Ensure database structures and data management practices align with industry regulations (by assisting in audits and implementing necessary compliance measures.Certificates / Security Clearances / Other

Basic Qualifications :
As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C), Epsilon will not consider candidates for this position who do not meet the aforementioned conditions.Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in database architecture or data engineeringDOD 8570 IAT Level II Certification may be required (GSEC, GICSP, CND, CySA , Security CE, SSCP or CCNA-Security).Proficiency with both relational (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) systemsStrong background in ETL processes and data integration tools (e.g., Talend, Informatica, Apache Airflow)Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and associated managed servicesExperience with data modeling frameworks (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema)Proficiency in scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and SQL optimizationKnowledge of data governance principles, data cataloging, and metadata managementAbility to work with version control tools (e.g., Git, SVN) and CI / CD pipelinesExperience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate across departmentsOne or more of the following certifications are desired : AWS Certified Developer, Databricks, Agile / Scrum, Python ProgrammerOther :
