Since 1896 the School of Dental Medicine has been educating students to take their places among the best dental practitioners and researchers in our region and across the country. In addition to its DMD program, the school directly sponsors five clinically focused post-DMD/DDS programs (residencies), including Endodontics, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Periodontics, and Prosthodontics; four of these programs offer an optional track leading to a Master of Dental Science (MDS) degree. The school also offers Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Master of Science (MS) degrees in Oral Biology with a research concentration in either Craniofacial and Dental Genetics or Craniofacial Tissue Regeneration. The Graduate Program Administrator provides administrative support for recruitment, admissions, enrollment management, financial aid, curriculum maintenance, monitoring and tracking of academic progress, electronic dissertation administration, graduation processing and records management for all of the above advanced education programs. The incumbent will be organizationally aligned and cross-trained with staff members who perform similar functions for the DMD program. Although formally a part of and reporting through the Office of Student Affairs, the incumbent will be expected to work with the six graduate program directors and the Associate Dean for Residency Education and deliver excellent support of all of their programs. As necessary, the incumbent will also assist with and provide backup for other Office of Student Affairs activities. Job Summary
Advises students and prospective students on admissions, financial aid, academic requirements, career development, and/or campus activities. Coordinates school-wide academic advising and peer mentoring programs. Implements program activities and works with Admissions and Career Services to provide quality program information and administer multiple types of information sessions. Corresponds with those seeking admissions standards and academic and non-academic programs. Assists with special projects and trains lower level employees, students, and volunteers.
Essential Functions
High level communication skills, word processing and data management via computer. The incumbent must be able to respond to electronic, written and verbal correspondence, including telephone communications.
Physical Effort
Mobility is needed to deliver materials around the School and to Lower Campus offices. Photocopying and preparing materials for distribution may require standing.
