What You’ll Do
Primary Function:
- Responsible for performing detailed physical inspections and compiling complete documentation packages for First Article Inspections (FAI), Hardware Acceptance Reviews (HAR), and Return Material Authorizations (RMA). This role supports quality operations by executing inspection and documentation activities in line with AS9100 and customer-specific requirements (Boeing, MDA, and others). The position also includes the responsibility of uploading documentation to customer portals for product and RMA acceptance.
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections based on drawings, specifications, and work orders.
- Execute First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102, and prepare the documentation package required for customer review.
- Compile and organize Hardware Acceptance Review packages per customer structure (e.g., packing list, CT scans, X-ray certs, tensile reports, photos, serial number cross-reference, etc.).
- Use Adobe Acrobat Pro tools (Crop, Combine, Edit, Insert Pages) to prepare clean and professional PDF packages.
- Utilize Microsoft Word and Excel to complete forms, templates, serial tracking logs, and cross-reference matrices.
- Validate that all documentation is accurate and traceable to the product and job/W.O.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Planning, Purchasing, and Engineering to gather and verify necessary records.
- Organize and maintain digital documentation folders per job or project, ensuring audit readiness.
- Support Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes by:
- Inspecting returned parts.
- Gathering evidence (photos, certs, data).
- Preparing and uploading documentation to customer portals for approval.
- Tracking RMA progress internally and ensuring proper closure.
- Upload final documentation to customer quality portals per customer instructions.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, customer-specific formats, and document control practices.

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in aerospace quality inspection or documentation roles.
- Proficient in First Article Inspection (FAI) and HAR preparation, especially for customers.
- Hands-on experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro (editing, cropping, combining PDFs).
- Skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel for managing forms and logs.
- Solid understanding of AS9100 quality system standards and documentation requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (ASME Y14.5), and manufacturing documentation.
- Familiarity with RMA workflows and required documentation for customer approval.
- Comfortable working with cross-functional teams to gather and validate documentation.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S. (due to ITAR compliance).
- Experience uploading documentation to customer portals.
- Experience with AS9102 FAIR documentation templates and structure.
- Understanding of customer-specific document naming conventions and labeling practices.
- Familiarity with traceability tools, internal quality logs, and nonconformance tracking.
- Previous experience supporting internal or external audits with documentation packages.
