Definition of the role: The Manager of Airside Operations is responsible for managing and directing the day-to-day operations of the Airside Operations department, which has primary responsibility for providing oversight, coordination, integration and communication for all airfield and terminal activities in accordance with FAA Part 139 regulations, the Airport Certification Manual, the Airport Emergency Plan, TSA Part 1542, and any other applicable regulations, directives, rules, policies or procedures at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. The Manager of Airside Operations is responsible for providing coordination during emergency operations.
Salary: $95,742 – 120,636 per year, with opportunity for additional merit-based increases

Responsibilities of the Position Include:
Direct and oversee the development and implementation of goals, objectives, and priorities for the Airside Operations department. Participate in long- and short-term division planning and policy formation.
Evaluate, recommend, and implement improved policies, procedures, and operating and work standards to ensure safe, secure, orderly and efficient operations of the airfield; work collaboratively with internal units to regularly review and update policies and procedures to ensure their consistency with current practice.
Ensure that federal, state and local regulatory agency rules and regulations pertaining to the safety, security and efficiency of an FAA commercial service 14 CFR Part 139 airport are adhered to by RTAA personnel and airfield users.
Evaluate, recommend, implement and administer Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) directed self-inspection programs to ensure that all airport operations are conducted according to compliance with federal and legislative regulations and airport rules, policies and procedures; and maintain the Airport Certification Manual (ACM) for the Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
Ensure that RNO is prepared for and in compliance with 14 CFR Part 139 requirements for an annual inspection. Coordinate all required inspection preparation with appropriate RTAA departments and act as liaison with the FAA.
Plan and coordinate day-to-day activities of the Airside Operations team; oversee the inspection of airfield conditions, runways, taxiways, ramps, and safety areas, and terminal and landside areas for safe operating conditions; and conduct periodic duty checks that verify the work of assigned Airport Duty Managers for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques and compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
Review, supervise and direct airline gate and traffic management process to include gate assignments and holding pad assignments.
Review complex construction project design plans for compliance with 14 CFR 139 and related Advisory Circular design and safety standards.
Certificates/Security Clearances/Other
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in aviation management, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field or an equivalent combination of directly related airport operations management experience and training may be substituted.
Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in managing airport/airside/airfield operations, inspections and compliance activities at a Part-139 Commercial Airport, which must include two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Required Certifications | Licenses
Incumbent must obtain an Airport Security Coordinator certification within the first year of employment, and maintain such certification thereafter, as a condition of continuing employment.
Incumbent must complete RTAA airfield driver training within the first thirty (30) days of employment and maintain such training thereafter.
Incumbent must obtain certificates of completion from the Department of Homeland Security (FEMA) National Incident Management System (NIMS) training - IS100, IS200, IS300, IS400, IS700, and IS800B AND the Certified Member (CM) designation from the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) - within one (1) year of the date of hire as a condition of continuing employment.
Possession of a valid Driver's License; ability to obtain and maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.
