Responsibilities
Performs a variety of warehousing duties which require an understanding of the establishment's storage plan.
Work involves most of the following : Verifying materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages; routing materials to prescribed storage locations; storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods; rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials; examining stored materials and reporting deterioration and damage; removing material from storage and preparing it for shipment.
Receives, Identifies, examines and determines destination acceptability of items from a variety of supply sources including contractors, commercial vendors, and other federal installations. These items include standard and specialized parts, material, machine tools, hardware, petroleum products, lumber, steel and electrical plumbing, laboratory and office supplies, etc..
Uses a number of measuring devices such as tape measures, calipers, gauges, scales and meters as well as conversion charts to ascertain dimensions and make necessary computations.
Determines the type of item and dimension check criteria using drawings and to use assembly drawings or simple blueprints in identifying parts to determine the completeness of incoming shipments.
Maintains status of incoming material through accessing automated systems.
Examines items and compares to purchase order or other documents to verify the correctness of the shipment.
Assigns sequential control numbers to non-expendable items. Furnishes data to stock control, when it must obtain additional information from fabrications in order to identify equipment.
Informs users of discrepancies and obtains a decision concerning the item's acceptability. Initiates rejection reports, listing faults or defects attesting to nonconformity with order requirements or other discrepancies.
Verifies documents attesting to the correctness of the items specified section.
Reports missing parts and discrepancies to the supervisor for correction.
Expedites processing of material identified as critical or urgent.
Tags rejected material and forwards to temporary storage area, maintaining a control card file on the material, showing location and status of items awaiting disposition.
Plans loading and unloading procedures for incoming items. Contacts riggers, equipment office and other appropriate section to have items setup or stored.
Obtains receiving documents and unloads incoming shipments of supplies and material as necessary.
Performs functions and tasks required to operate a FedEx or similar terminal and to process shipments.
Directs other personnel in carrying out loading operations.

Qualifications
Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a government NACI Clearance.
Must be willing and able to pass a drug screening.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must be able to frequently lift and carry equipment that weighs from 10 to 40 pounds.
Must be able to follow both written and oral instructions
Must be computer literate and able to function with basic MS Office applications, SAP programs, research, data input, etc.
Able to operate hand-trucks and dollies.
Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
May be required to work rapidly for long periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, materials and equipment weighing up to 45 pounds unassisted and heavier with assistance of coworker or lifting device.
Climbs and walks on trucks, storage tanks and railroad cars while checking the quantity of petroleum and other incoming products.
Work may be done inside in areas that hot, cold, damp, drafty, or poorly lighted.
Work is accomplished outside on open docks and in storage yards subject to poor weather conditions.
The work frequently results in exposure to dirt, dust, and grease, present the danger of cuts, scrapes, bruises, falls and other injuries from material handling equipment.
