Who YOU are and what YOU can become
As the Production Test Technician, you will have responsibility of specific laboratory functions supporting the chemical, physical, thermal, and mechanical testing of metallic and non-metallic materials. This includes generating test summary documents, communicating with departments within the business outside of the functional lab team, and communicating test results to cognizant team members and engineers in an effective manner. You will work under the direction of Team Leaders and experienced technicians to complete assigned daily and weekly tasks in an effective and efficient manner. In addition, you may be called upon to participate across other lab functional areas based on the work demand and priorities each day.
What YOU will do
Works with limited to some supervision using process instructions, test plans or other written specifications to perform job duties.
Under direction of Team Leaders, responsible for meeting productivity, quality, and safety requirements.
Must be able to operate equipment within the assigned lab function and perform hands on work
Good written and verbal communication skills, and use of office productivity tools such as word, excel, PowerPoint.
Mechanical testing of composites and metallic coupons, including but not limited to tensile, compressive, and flexure test methods.
Generate reports and provide testing support for other laboratory functional areas to including, but not limited to dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), acid digestion, solution chemistry, viscosity, micrographs, etc.
Interpret test specifications (ASTM's, AMS's, Mil-Standards, Federal Standards, NAS's) and test plans for film and paste adhesives, graphite / fiberglass prepregs, sealants, primers, paints, and metal bonded coupons.
Additional Qualifications / Responsibilities
What YOU must bring to Succeed
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field from an accredited university with 1 year of related manufacturing / laboratory testing or relevant experience, OR a High School Diploma / GED equivalent with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment. Composite experience is a plus.
Have current vehicle driver's license to enable use of electric lift, tow, and transportation golf cart type of equipment certification
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple test scopes as required.
Desired Characteristics
Experience with Metallic & Composite Mechanical Testing using industry standards (ASTMs, NAS, MIL-SPECs) and sensor types such as load cells.
Understanding of Electromechanical Test Systems (TestWorks)
Preferred minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical shop or working in a lab environment
Self-starting and self-motivated team player
Experience with NADCAP requirements
Ability to multitask and handle tasks with competing priorities effectively
Detail oriented and basic computer skills with experience with Microsoft Excel / PowerPoint / Word
Familiarity with SAP applications

Estimate salary range for this role : $26.60 to $39 per hour. Overtime eligible role. ST Engineering considers several factors with extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, education / training / certification, job level, and work location. Base salary is only one component of our competitive Total Rewards package.
