Position Summary :
The Machine Shop Manager is responsible for the safe manufacture of company products, which may involve a broad range of manufacturing processes. This role ensures all safety, quality, and productivity requirements are met in the most cost-effective manner. The position requires initiative, strong leadership, and the ability to achieve results in an aerospace environment. The ideal candidate will have experience setting ambitious goals, delivering results, and developing talent within their team.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities :
Provide leadership and communication to the machine shop team to ensure understanding and attainment of performance objectives and monthly shipment plans.
Maintain operational focus, prioritize tactical plans, measure actual performance against plans, implement countermeasures as needed, and drive lean / continuous improvement initiatives.
Promote an understanding of continuous improvement tools and principles.
Manage direct reports by setting schedules, quality, and cost targets, and delegating tasks accordingly.
Work with other managers to coordinate and align business unit operations and activities; establish work schedules, assignments, and resource planning.
Partner with HR and direct reports to resolve workplace issues, forecast staffing needs, and participate in the hiring process.
Develop, train, and engage employees in maintaining and improving safety, efficiency, productivity, quality, cooperation, and morale.
Partner with Quality to align goals with the Business Quality Management System (BQMS).
Champion Six Sigma and facilitate lean manufacturing initiatives.
Develop and deploy management metrics.
Support IT and production with long-range resource planning.
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
Compensation & Benefits :
Eligible to participate in the Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, with a bonus factor of 3X the company’s bonus multiple based on performance.

Required Skills / Experience :
Strong knowledge of budgeting processes and financial management tools.
Understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality controls, and associated costs.
Experience with lean manufacturing practices, including 5-S, visual controls, standard work, work center metrics, and continuous improvement processes.
Ability to manage complex processes, procedures, and functions.
Familiarity with ERP and similar production management systems.
Knowledge of strategic planning, resource allocation, corporate policies, human resources, leadership, and production methods.
Ability to motivate, develop, and direct team members while identifying the best people for specific roles.
Strong analytical skills for assessing costs and benefits of potential actions.
Excellent communication skills to articulate results and needs at all organizational levels.
Ability to establish and communicate clear priorities and influence others to support them.
Proven track record of managing multiple projects with competing deadlines.
Required Experience :
10 years of relevant experience.
5 years in a leadership role.
Education :
BS / MS in engineering or management field preferred, or equivalent experience.
