Knowledge of :

Ability to :
Under the direction of the Police Academy Director / Coordinator :
1. Day to day supervision of recruits and all of their activities.
2. Provides feedback and guidance to students.
3. Evaluates and documents student performance and conduct.
4. Responds to requests for feedback or information to client agencies regarding students.
5. Attends the Recruit Training Officer Workshop within one year of appointment for Police Academy RTOs.
6. Maintains a clean, safe, and professional training environment.
7. Model the appearance, behavior, and demeanor of an exemplary public safety officer.
8. Adheres to the Districts Code of Conduct.
Essential Duties
- Monitors that instruction (paramilitary instruction only marching, formations, etc.) meets state legislative mandates and procedures, POST Commission regulations and / or Fire Marshall regulations; E
- Monitors instruction to meet federal legislative mandates and procedures; E
- Provides day-to-day first line supervision of trainees and recruits; E
- Supports, motivates, evaluates, and advises trainees and recruits; E
- Performs operational risk management and enforces student safety policy; and E
- Ensures compliance with all local, state, federal laws, and the Districts board policies and administrative procedures associated with the educational and workplace environment. E
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, climb and lift 100 lbs. E
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Education and Experience Education and Experience :
License Certificates / Credentials POST Certificate.
Desired Qualifications A basic certificate and 4 years of job-related experience.
