Duties:
- Client communication
- Triaging patients including basic injury/illness assessment, gathering patient information, and taking vital signs.
- Performing diagnostic testing including radiographs and lab work
- Assisting with surgical procedures and patient monitoring
- Assisting in taking radiographs
- Giving IV & IM injections
- Dispensing controlled drugs
- Placing IV catheters and maintaining feeding tubes and urinary catheters
- Monitor Surgical procedures.
- Lab Diagnostics
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, and unpleasant odors.
- Ability to always communicate professionally and effectively and maintain professionalism in emotionally charged / challenging situations.
- Ability to provide high quality customer service.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
- Ability to work effectively with computers and electronics.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift patients up to 40lbs throughout the workday with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to frequently lift, walk, bend, twist, reach, push and squat
Education and Experience:
At least one year of veterinary experience as an assistant or technician preferred.
