What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Shift Production Lead position at Vets Plus, Inc.?
Summary of the Position: Aid in the manufacturing, packaging, filling, and labeling of products. Leads are to take a supervisory role and ensure that the production process runs smoothly. They may also be tasked with performing quality checks and cleaning and maintaining production equipment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all production processes in the area, including the approval of mixed and filled products and accuracy of weighing raw materials before further processing, and use of correct labeling & packaging materials when applicable.
- Responsible for maintaining the safety stock of materials used in the area.
- Responsible for lubrication of all machines on a timely basis, set-up, adjustments, and operations for all presses.

- Responsible that all personnel are following the Personal Hygiene Practices, current Good Manufacturing Procedures (cGMP) & guidelines, and the Safety Guidelines in the area.
- Responsible that all personnel are following of the correct procedures per SOPs, training packets and as specified on the Batch Records.
- Responsible for identifying the training needs of personnel working in the area for Quality & Manufacturing Procedures, and Safe Operation of Equipment.
- Responsible for planning and executing Daily & weekly Production Schedule in coordination with the Production Scheduler.

- Ensure that the work area is properly staffed for the day’s production.
- Responsible for coordinating with Production Supervisors and Production In-charge for all production issues.
- Ensure that the Area is clear of the last run product to prevent cross contamination.
- Ensure that the daily Scale Calibration has been performed before the filling process for the weight accuracy of the filled product.
- Responsible for the correct and safe disassembly/ assembly of all equipment used in the area.
- Ensure that the Batch Record and other necessary paperwork are present during mixing, pressing, filling and labeling/ packaging process for each batch.
- Ensure that before each step of production, the Batch Record is signed off and approved by the authorized personnel for further processing.
- Responsible to ensure that all crates and hand utensils used in the area are clean and dry.
- Responsible for the accuracy of the fill weight of bottles/ jars per Batch Record specification.
- Ensure that the LPN sheet is approved by authorized personnel before labeling & packaging.
- Ensure the collection and submission of daily product samples to QC.
- Ensure the completion of daily Batch Records, logs, and other necessary paperwork per Good Documentation Practice (GDP).
- Ensure that the area is clean, free of debris and the daily cleaning/ sanitation process in the area is routinely performed along with the completion of log and supervisor’s signature.
- Responsible for the transfer of any weighed batched to the appropriate staging areas.
- Responsible for transfer of WIP stage product and Finished Good product in appropriate storage area.
Weigh Room
- Responsible for signing all Raw Materials out of Raw Material Storage area ensuring that the first-in-first-out (FIFO) procedures have been followed.
- Responsible for checking & verifying the RM name, ID, & Lot# on the labels that is applied on the received/ released Raw Material pallets/ packages.
- Responsible to ensure that Raw Materials are stored in clean and dry totes.
- Responsible for the collection of samples of each of Raw Materials received, enter into log.
- Responsible for weighing & verifying weighed Raw Materials.
Minimum Requirements
- Leadership, Effective Communication, Time Management and problem-solving skills are required of this position.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and repetitious motion.
- Ability to read and write in English and basic math skills.
- Knowledge of the metric system and conversions.
