Import & Supply Chain Operations Specialist
The Import & Supply Chain Operations Specialist is responsible for overseeing some importation/exportation process from international suppliers, ensuring proper documentation, optimizing logistics, and ensuring compliance. This role also provides critical support to the supply chain, including inventory tracking, backflushing transactions, and assisting customer service operations as needed.
Key Responsibilities:Import & Logistics Management
- Manage all export shipments, including tracking containers, coordinating with brokers, and handling any claims.
- Review and ensure timely and accurate import documentation, including invoices, customs entries, and compliance records.
- Monitor import inventory levels and provide updates to the procurement and operations teams.
- Assist with steel procurement and export logistics as necessary.
Inventory & System Transactions
- Perform backflushing transactions to maintain accurate inventory reporting and cost allocation.
- Ensure accurate tracking of inventory movements related to imports and production processes.
- Generate and analyze key supply chain metrics, including inventory, freight, and landed cost reports.
Customer Service & Order Processing Support
- Provide backup support for customer service operations, including order entry, pricing verification, and invoicing.
- Assist in resolving chargebacks, customer inquiries, and order discrepancies.
- Support the EDI order process and collaborate with IT to troubleshoot system-related issues.
- Communicate effectively with the Distribution Center to ensure smooth and timely order fulfillment.
Operational & Process Improvement
- Collaborate with procurement, operations, and customer service teams to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to drive cost savings and operational efficiency.
- Maintain organized and accurate documentation of all import and supply chain transactions.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing business needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and ERP software (QAD, SAP, JD Edwards, or similar).
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration across teams.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and professionalism.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in import operations, supply chain, or a related role.
- Familiarity with U.S. Customs regulations, HTS codes, and logistics is preferred.
- Experience with backflushing and inventory transactions within an ERP system is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Occasionally lift up to 35 lbs.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and maintain professionalism at all times.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $53,461.00 per year
