Position Summary
The Risk Placement Specialist within VGM Insurance works in tandem with the Program Manager and Account Manager to support placement of new business agency business with VGM Insurance and its carrier partners. Primary responsibilities for the sales support role revolve around new business risk evaluation, supporting the sales efforts on gathering necessary risk information, obtaining quotes with agency partners, preparing comprehensive quote proposals, and assisting on bind requirements. Risk Placement Specialist must be willing to work in a team atmosphere with a desire to succeed.
A commitment to working successfully with others & a drive to accomplishing goals and objectives is crucial to success in this role. Our ideal candidate is a quick learner who demonstrates an excellent work ethic, pays close attention to detail to ensure accuracy, a high level of knowledge of commercial insurance products, and exercises effective problem-solving skills. One must also be able to follow instructions and adhere to deadlines as well as be detail oriented and committed to success. Reporting Accountability: VP Carrier Relations and Program Development, VGM Insurance
Working Location: On-site in Waterloo, IA for first 90 days then hybrid opportunity available (3 days on-site, 2 days remote)
Work Hours Classification: Exempt Full-time, Monday-Friday 8-5 PM
Responsibilities/Duties of the Job
- Support during the sales cycle through evaluation and gathering of all information to evaluate risk
- Communicate with external underwriters to obtain necessary quotes
- Obtaining business insurance quotes through navigation of insurance carrier websites and portals
- Navigating our agency management system to enter client, policy and coverage information.
- Understanding our insurance products, coverages, and limits
- Binding, issuing and invoicing insurance policies.
- Create new business proposal process
- Ensures that all regulatory, compliance and transparency requirements are met and complies with all internal policies and procedures
- Remarketing of risks with strategic carrier partners
- Proactively identifying upcoming renewals to remarket risks with strategic carrier partners
- Obtaining updated information for renewal quoting
Position Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Associate degree desired, 4-year degree preferred.
- Previous insurance experience preferred, not required.
- Commercial Insurance License must be held in this position – if not currently licensed upon employment candidate is required to become licensed and pass all applicable exams.
