As part of VHB, you'll have the opportunity to work on multi-modal projects across North Carolina, from highways and interchanges to trail and bikeway designs, which are a testament to our approach to provide infrastructure designs for all communities and modes of travel. Responsibilities
- Design transportation improvements for roadway, intersection, trail, bike / ped, and interchange design; analyze/evaluate traffic improvements; support traffic/safety studies
- Development of geometric layout and design packages, utility coordination, signing and marking, and maintenance of traffic plans
- Prepare design plans per NCDOT and AASHTO design guidelines
- Prepare Engineering cost estimates and quantity calculations
- Develop 3D Models of proposed designs utilizing Bentley Open Roads software
- Conduct field reviews and document existing and as-built roadway conditions
- Serve as Task Lead and Deputy PM in Training
Skills and Attributes
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Self-motivated
- Ability to think critically
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Excel in working in a team environment
- Enthusiasm to learn and the ability to take responsibility
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- 5-8 years of transportation design experience required
- 8 years of transportation design experience preferred
- NCDOT and local municipality experience is a plus with an understanding of NCDOT design criteria and plans development guidelines
- Experience with MicroStation and Bentley Open Roads is required
- PE registration in North Carolina is required
