Responsibilities
- Conduct traffic and safety engineering analysis, including design and operational focused analysis
- Research and interpret transportation data, community statistics, and demographics
- Perform roadway and intersection design
- Prepare written planning documents, technical memoranda, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports
Skills and Attributes
- Understanding of transportation engineering roadway design principles
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
- Enthusiasm to learn and ability to take responsibility
- Familiarity with the following systems: Synchro/SimTraffic, AutoCAD or Microstation, Word, Excel, GIS
- Familiarity with national and local transportation engineering standards, including AASHTO, MUTCD, and/or ITE guidance documents
- Understanding of highway safety fundamentals
- Preference for familiarity with Highway Safety Manual (HSM) and related tools and techniques
Qualifications
- 5-8 years of transportation and/or traffic engineering experience
- BS in Civil Engineering or related field of study
- PE license expected, EIT required
- Experience with AutoCAD or Microstation preferred
- Experience with traffic analysis software (Synchro, HCS) preferred
