What are the responsibilities and job description for the Referrals Clerk - FQHC position at Via Care - East LA?
- Obtains information, insurance verification and authorization required for proper patient treatment and referrals.
- Receive, track and obtain insurance authorization from in-network and out of network insurance carriers for New Patient and Follow Up visits with our medical providers.
- Process physician referral orders (EMG, CT, MRI, etc.) using EMR system. This includes obtaining any insurance authorization needed.
- Coordinate new therapy referrals for insurance plans that require authorization (AHCCCS, work comp, etc). This includes obtaining any insurance authorization needed
- Accurately enter notes into EMR System regarding letters or correspondence from insurance companies regarding insurance authorization or other notifications. These documents should also be scanned into the appropriate patients chart in EMR system.
- Remain updated with therapy & radiology location insurance contracts.
- Demonstrate and apply knowledge of medical terminology, high proficiency of general medical office procedures including HIPAA regulations
- Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Obtains medical authorizations and referrals for procedures
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
- High school graduate or its equivalency;
- Experience in medical front office procedures preferred and knowledge of medical terminology;
- Ability to always demonstrate the highest level of performance and behavior standards;
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to effectively and respectfully handle dissatisfied patients;
- Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to multi task, and flexible;
- Knowledge of standard office machines including copier, fax, multi line telephone, printers, etc.;
- Ability to be a team player; support and assist team members.
