GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Responsible for receipt, storage and issuance of numerous bus, paratransit, car, and truck parts and various materials, supplies and equipment. Administers the parts rebuild program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Issues and delivers materials, parts and supplies to various divisions.
Drives company truck to pick up and deliver parts to and from vendors in the service area.
Receives, identifies, inspects, and bins incoming freight.
Maintains storage bins and insures bins are kept clean and orderly.
Reports unusual stock levels by submitting proper paperwork to correct any shortage or overage of stock to supervisor.
Receives oil and fuel deliveries according to procedures.
Conducts monthly inventory of all bulk fuels and oil.
Maintains oil and fuel levels by monitoring on a daily basis.
Responsible for monitoring waste oil level and pick up by vendor.
Inspects components for the Rebuild Spare Components Program.
Monitors levels of bulk new and used coolant.
Schedules delivery of new product and pick up of used product.
Maintains stock levels and records for the Rebuild Spare Components Program.
Maintains a core bank of rebuildable parts.
Insures stock levels are maintained to rebuild spare components.
Operates computer terminals to include inventory and purchasing programs.
Generates internal purchase orders to start rebuild process.
Initiates work orders for VIA shops to rebuild cores.
Establishes and maintains records.
Delivers oil and grease to maintenance bay pits.
Off-loads parts at parts warehouse.
Moves needed parts from warehouse to storeroom.
Responsible for setting up and maintaining warehouse.
This job description excludes marginal functions that are incidental to performing the job. Other duties may exist.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have completed High School or equivalent plus at least one year related experience in material handling and/or parts. Experience in automotive or bus parts preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have the ability to operate various material handling equipment to include forklifts, electric part carts, and pallet jacks.
Ability to read and write English effectively.
Must have ability to acquire knowledge of job and occupational hazards and safety precautions required in the shops.
Ability to maintain detailed records.
Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
Ability to perform math calculations using decimals and fractions.
Must have a valid Texas Drivers License (Class-C).
Must have ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Must be able to maintain good work attendance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have physical ability to occasionally reach overhead, sit, be on unprotected heights, and requires fine manipulating. Ability to frequently bend, stoop, twist, squat, kneel, climb stairs, be around moving machinery, requires medium dexterity; forearm rotational movement, hard grasping, and use of foot control. Ability to continuously walk, stand, and be around extremes in temperature/humidity. Exposure to dust, fumes, gases and noise, requires simple grasping.
Must have physical ability to occasionally lift/carry 75 lbs., push/pull 100 lbs. Ability to frequently lift/carry 35 lbs., push/pull 50 lbs. Ability to continuously lift/carry 25 lbs., push/pull 35 lbs.
Job requires use of both hands either simultaneously or singly and both feet are required for foot controls either simultaneously or singly.
Job cannot be performed by alternating sitting or standing.
Must be able to hear safety and emergency horns.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work involves exposure to dust, fumes, gases, noise and unfavorable weather conditions.
