JOB SUMMARY:
As the Therapy Director, you are responsible for the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing the functions of the therapy department and participating in assessing individualized therapy programs for residents in a nursing home or rehabilitation setting. This is a critical leadership position responsible for the management of the therapy staff, the overall effectiveness and success of the physical therapy department, ensuring that it provides high-quality, patient-centered care, remains compliant with regulatory standards, and contributes to the broader goals of the healthcare organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Doctoral or Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
- Valid state licensure as a Physical Therapist.
- Additional certifications in clinical specialties (e.g., Orthopedics, Neurology, Geriatrics) or healthcare management (e.g., Healthcare Administration, Business Management) are preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a Physical Therapist, with at least 2 years in a management or leadership role (e.g., Supervisor, Assistant Director).
- Experience in physical therapy program development, staff management, and quality assurance.
- Proven track record in improving patient outcomes, departmental productivity, and financial performance.
- Experience in a skilled nursing facility, inpatient rehabilitation, or senior care is preferred.
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance documentation requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to work independently, manage a caseload, and meet productivity standards.
- Responsible for maintaining professional licensure and CEU requirements.
- Proficient with computers and have the ability to learn health information technology as it relates to therapy.
- Knowledgeable of therapy practices and procedures as well as the applicable state laws, regulations, and guidelines.
