What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paratransit Driver position at Via Transportation?
Tidewater Transit operates an accessible transportation (Paratransit) service in Milwaukee County in partnership with the Milwaukee County Transit System. We are working with a staffing agency, HireArt, to help bring talented and dedicated drivers into the service!
What You’ll Do:
- Safely and courteously operate ramp-equipped vehicles to transport elderly and persons with disabilities.
- Learn the fundamentals of Tidewater Transit operations and related safety procedures
- Perform the routine operation of vehicles, including pre-and post-shift inspections
Who You Are:
- At least 25 years old
- Hold a valid driver’s license from Wisconsin
- Have more than two years of driving history
- Pass a drug screening, motor vehicle check, and criminal background check
- Possess sound knowledge of the city and an excellent driving record
- Able to follow written and verbal instruction
- Able to operate a wheelchair-accessible vehicle within standard safety guidelines to ensure public safety
- Patient, empathetic, and sensitive to the needs of people with disabilities
- Be willing to acquire a Public Passenger Vehicle (PPV) License with the City of Green Bay (cost covered by Tidewater Transit)
- Able to apply in person at Tidewater Transit’s offices in the Milwaukee County area
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $18.00/hour.
