What You Will Be Doing:
The Inventory Control Specialist is directly responsible for maintaining an efficient spare parts inventory warehouse, ensuring healthy inventory flow, and monitoring all inbound and outbound orders. This role will utilize inventory control metrics to monitor performance and look for any areas of possible improvement.
Inventory control specialists track all inbound and outbound inventory, working closely with the Shipping department, Logistics Coordinator, and Director of Supply Chain Management. They will oversee inventory by performing monthly and annual cycle counting. They sign for, inspect, and count newly received inventory, taking note of any damage or potentially unsuitable products. If defective products are found, they work with the Director of Supply Chain Management to arrange for the parts to be shipped back to the supplier or dispose of them according to company standards.
Key Responsibilities Look Like:
- Maintain proper inventory stocking levels, using company-approved replenishment formulas.
- Monitor all inbound and outbound orders to coordinate shipments and maximize customer deliveries.
- Coordinate warehouse operations and stocking behaviors to minimize process waste and improve efficiencies.
- Process inbound inventory orders and delivery notes.
- Update purchase orders to include information provided by vendors, such as order numbers, invoices, delivery notes, and ETA’s.
- Update sales orders to include ETA’s and ensure proper parts allocations.
- Monitor opens purchase and sales orders for past-due transactions and backorders.
- Inform Parts Sales Specialists of fillable back orders in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels through regular cycle counts.
- Ensure accurate and thorough inventory information, cleaning up system data as necessary.
- Maintain warehouse facilities and equipment, involving daily vehicle inspections.
- Fully integrate and embrace the EOS methodology within the Inventory and Logistics team.
- Completes quarterly EOS 'Rocks' as assigned.
Critical Skills and Experience You’ll Need:
- Knowledge of inventory control metrics such as fill rate, turn rate, lead times, etc. to understand proper inventory stocking levels and movement.
- Minimum of a high school education and two year of distribution warehouse experience.
- Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions, and use simple math.
- A valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Certified forklift operator.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products, i.e. Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Organized, detail-oriented, and responsive to incoming emails
Physical Demand & Competencies:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
- This position can be active, requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching.
- The employee must be able to lift and move items over 50 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee can be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
