Senior EHS Manager

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Environmental, Health, and Safety Leadership

• Develop, implement, and manage EHS companywide program along with the policies and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DENR, and other regulatory standards.
• Lead safety programs to provide a safe and secure working environment for all team members, including injury prevention, PPE guidelines, and emergency action plans.
• Conduct facility audits to identify potential safety hazards, environmental risks, and opportunities for improvement. Delegate audit tasks to the appropriate area for improvement and resolution. 
• Coordinate training programs for team members on safety practices, OSHA standards, hazardous materials handling, and emergency response protocols.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; identify root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Maintain accurate EHS records, including OSHA 300 logs, incident reports, and compliance documentation.

Sustainability and Operation Clean Sweep

• Lead sustainability initiatives, including OCS compliance, to prevent plastic pellet loss and minimize environmental impact.
• Monitor and improve processes for waste reduction, recycling, and material efficiency.
• Track and report sustainability metrics such as energy usage, pellet loss, emissions, and resource consumption.
• Conduct training and awareness programs to engage team members in sustainability efforts. Collaborate across management teams to ensure continued support.
• Collaborate with R&D, operations, and supply chain teams to identify opportunities for using sustainable materials or optimizing production processes.
• Oversee stormwater management and other environmental compliance efforts, ensuring facilities meet or exceed all regulatory requirements.

Program Development and Reporting

• Establish and maintain metrics to measure EHS performance, sustainability goals, and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare and present reports on EHS programs, sustainability initiatives, and project progress to leadership and stakeholders.
• Manage budgets for EHS and sustainability programs, identifying cost-effective solutions to meet goals. Prepare annual budget review. 
• Stay informed of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in EHS and sustainability, making recommendations as needed.

Team Collaboration and Leadership

• Act as a strategic partner to facility leadership, providing guidance on safety, environmental, and sustainability matters.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align EHS and sustainability programs with business objectives.
• Promote a culture of safety, environmental awareness, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, engineering or a related field.  8 years’ experience in EHS Management within a manufacturing environment including leadership of sustainability programs.  Proven knowledge of regulatory standards, including OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and ISO 9000. Strong project management and leadership skills with experience implementing organization-wide initiatives. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools, including Microsoft Office.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Deep understanding of EHS regulations and sustainability practices, including Operation Clean Sweep.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence a culture of safety and sustainability.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to develop and implement practical solutions.
• Excellent communication and training skills, with experience engaging team members at all levels.
• High level of organization and attention to detail, particularly in maintaining accurate documentation and records.
