What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Superintendent position at VIAM Manufacturing?
JOB SUMMARY:
Superintendent should have a working knowledge of the manufacturing industry. Will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of the operation within the plant on a particular shift. Will be responsible for the training and development activities of the shift supervisors assigned to him/her. Shift superintendent will focus on leading supervisors in meeting expectations of Quality, Productivity, Safety, and Housekeeping.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assign duties and examines work for exactness and conformances to policies & procedures
Studies procedures and recommends methods to improve efficiency and standardization
Compiles required composite reports from individual reports
Trains new and existing Shift Supervisors and associates in proper manufacturing procedures
Issues written and oral instructions
Conduct daily meeting with all shift supervisors in each department
Inspects products for compliance to specifications and maintains quality
Directs maintenance mechanics to correct machine problems
Advises Production Manager of needed supplies to maintain production floor
Assists in the establishment of safety procedures for organization and ensures compliance with OSHA, ISO, and other regulations
Enforces safety regulations
Oversees correct time entry by all shift supervisors into e-Time payroll system
Supervises and manages all shift supervisors and associates
Track 2nd shift training hours and labor variance (by cell, by supervisor) – include any countermeasure activities
Monitor associate PAF form completion by supervisors
Preliminary review of 2nd shift associate review
Review 2nd shift – shift reports from previous shift
Daily cell audits of process flow, safety and housekeeping
Champion of 2nd shift mis-production forms and FTA scheduling
Maintains harmony among workers and shift supervisors and resolves conflicts proactively by gathering information, mediating, implementing solutions and follow-up as needed; forwards unresolved conflicts to Production Manager for assistance
Supervises and managers shift supervisors and associates
Reports updates to all members of management in regards to performance of associates, safety issues in area departments, housekeeping in area departments, etc.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Member of the Emergency Response Team
Familiar with VIAM benefits and administration of benefits
Knowledge of all Human Resource policies and procedures
Ability to conduct New Hire Orientation
Acts as liaison between associates and Human Resource
Acts as liaison between all areas of production, maintenance, quality, IT, HR associates to appropriate manager/director
May serve as a member of safety committee
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED
4-year Management Degree or equivalent experience in Supervisory Management (minimum)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have planning and organization skills
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and follow-up skills
Must be willing to work 1st or 2nd shift
Must have a goal driven attitude towards motivating crews
Must have strong leadership skills and should manage with a flexible leadership style

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
