The Commercial Director – Design & Development will be responsible for driving sales growth of Viant’s D&D services. This role involves refining the value proposition, segmenting the market, and developing and executing a sales & marketing plan. This role also inculdes identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining client relationships, and achieving sales targets. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the market and the technical aspects of D&D in medical devices, strategic planning skills, excellent communication & collaboration skills, and a proven track record in sales and marketing.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Execution:
Align with Design & Development leaders and the commercial leadership team to refine the value proposition, segment the market, and develop a strategy for growing revenue.
Collaborate with D&D leaders and commercial team members to develop and execute a strategic sales and marketing plan.
Analyze market trends to identify growth opportunities and develop strategies to capitalize on them
Work with D&D leaders to expand Viant’s D&D capabilities through organic and inorganic development in new disciplines
Customer Relationship Management:
Work with development teams to ensure successful execution of engagements
Foster and maintain strong relationships with high-value accounts to ensure satisfaction, and secure repeat engagements.
Expand call points within customer base to generate new opportunities and to establish strong support for Viant D&D within our accounts
Sales and Revenue Growth:
Act as the subject matter expert who can best articulate the Viant D&D value proposition and navigate the unique nature of securing D&D engagements.
Implement strategic sales plans to secure engagements and expand the customer base
Work with other Viant commercial and leadership resources to jointly promote Viant D&D and secure engagements
Leverage Viant’s wide-reaching network and capabilities to better serve existing customer and clinical markets and to penetrate new customers and clinical markets
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, Operations Management. An MBA is a plus
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development and account management. Proven track record of driving revenue growth and managing high-value client relationships. Demonstrated existing relationships with medical device OEMs.
Skills:
Strong strategic planning and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong understanding of technical and operational aspects of medical device design and manufacturing.
Proficiency with metals manufacturing, plastic injection molding, and device assembly are preferred.
Ability to lead services agreement negotiations
Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and other sales tools.
Ability to travel as needed, up to 50%.

We offer market competitive compensation. Potential salary range for this role is $180K-$210k plus commission. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
