What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler I - 2nd Shift position at Viant?
Monday - Thursday 4:15 PM to 2:45 AM and occasional Friday overtime as required
Position Description/Responsibilities:
Material handling duties associated with supplying assembly line.
Confers with supervisors to coordinate flow of materials or products into kitting or CER via Kanban or Picking ticket.
Assists team members with material handling & receiving activities as directed by supervisor or team leader.
Communicate with appropriate personnel any potential shortages and/or future inventory projections
Provide accurate documentation for inventory control.
Reads production schedules, inventory reports & work orders to determine type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock and order priority.
Pull and stage material for production use.
Performs cycle counts.
Provides assistance for on-the-job coaching/training of new employees and cross-training current employees.
Process inventory transactions in computer database relating to Work Order, Scrap, Testing, Cycle Counts, etc.
Demonstrates efficient use of computer software.
Seeks guidance and direction as necessary for the performance of the listed responsibilities and duties.
Demonstrates good judgment in investigating and resolving problems.
Maintain work area in a neat and orderly manner.
Report to work on time consistently, makes the best use of time during the workday.
Always follows all safety procedures
Performs any other related or unrelated, unassigned, unspecified, unusual or special duty the Materials Supervisor may assign from time to time.
Position Authority
This position has the authority to accept or reject materials, subassemblies, assemblies and processes that affect the quality and safety of Viant products. This includes the authority to stop production if necessary to assure that nonconforming/adulterated products are not released for distribution.
Skills
Possesses written and oral communications skills sufficient to speak clearly and distinctly, write compound and complex sentences, and read simple instructions in English.
Performs expanded basic arithmetic calculations (add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals).
Applies common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous day-to-day activities of a primarily productive nature. (Lifting 60 lbs. /carrying 25 lbs.)
Moderate lifting, carrying, bending, pushing/pulling, climbing and prolonged standing.
Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and material.
Requires the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
Requires the ability to judge distance and space relationships (i.e. visualize objects of multiple dimensions).
Must be able to handle chemicals safely and confidently.
Must be able to use protective clothing/devices as outlined in procedures.
Ability to work in a well-lighted, climate controlled, warehouse setting with adequate ventilation.
Essential Functions
Coordinates movement of parts from storage areas to assembly line. ·
Initiates or suggests plans to motivate team members to achieve 100% customer satisfaction.
Inventory control and record accuracy.
Participates and provides input for process improvement programs.
Equipment Used
Standard office computer, pallet jack and forklift.
Qualifications
High school education or equivalent.
Minimum of two (2) years inventory control or material handling experience in a manufacturing environment
