Through our state-of-the-art technology-enabled services, community wellness programs, and advocacy and education work, we are building a society in which emotional wellness can be a reality for everyone.Position Overview : Provide direct contact vocational rehabilitation services to youth in an Office of Mental Health Residential Treatment Facility.Facilitates the acquisition of specific soft skills conducted individually or in small groups.Facilitates a set of individualized activities consistent with the youth’s career goals and locally available employment.Provide interventions that can be used to provide the individual youth assistance and support on or off-the-job in activities on a short-term or long-term basis.Duties / Responsibilities : Research industry and labor market trends, internet sources, newspapers, job boards, and conduct cold calls to identify job leads. Maintain a database of jobs, hiring events, job fairs and an inventory of current and potential employers.Coordinate union apprenticeships, internships and other employment opportunities quarterly. Match youth with employment sites that are within the youth’s capabilities and employment interests.Shadow youth on a regular basis or until they are comfortable within the work environment and assist with negotiating accommodations in the workplace, where needed. Maintain frequent communication with employers in order to provide necessary supports, assess job performance and ensure continued development in accordance with the consistency of the youth’s disclosure plan.Provide direct services to youth and adolescents including vocational counseling, report generation and progress noting.Maintain job development log and job placement / retention log.Develop long and short-term vocational goals for participants.Knowledge of employer expectations of employee performance and workplace behaviors.Meet weekly with supervisor to discuss issues and concerns and provide suggestions; carry out all tasks and additional assignments as delegated by supervisor.Participate in and attend meetings / seminars / trainings geared towards improvement of self and agency as a whole.Maintain confidentiality at all times.Required Skills / Abilities : Decision Making : Identify multi-faceted problems affecting achievement of individual goals and provide solutions.Decisions have minor organizational impact that may require consultation with internal and external stakeholders regarding issues, possible solutions and implementation of alternatives.Analyze and interpret issues, realign responsibilities, commit resources and propose alternative solutions.Implement solutions for minor projects after approval; held accountable if no action is taken.Multi-factor decision-making requiring research and analysis, subject to supervisory guidance.Scope of Responsibility / Accountability : Manage programs / projects, create and implement work plans and objectives.Monitor and evaluate interim results and develop contingency plans if objectives are off track.Performance is reviewed by director level and above.This job operates in a professional office environment.This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.Physical Demands : The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.This position requires frequent travel to provide services to youth in various locations.Required Qualifications : Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.At least 2 years of vocational experience providing employment / vocational services and / or similar services to young adults.Vibrant Emotional Health is committed to the full inclusion of all qualified individuals.
