SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Clinical Nurse Educator supports the development and performance of clinical support staff within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), ensuring a high standard of patient care within a team-based care delivery model. This role focuses on onboarding, training, and competency assessment of nurses, medical assistants, and other clinical support staff. The Clinical Nurse Educator plays a pivotal role in maintaining compliance with clinical standards, supporting quality improvement, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Onboarding and Initial Training

Develop and deliver comprehensive onboarding programs for newly hired nurses, medical assistants, and clinical support staff.

  • Train new staff in their role-specific scope of practice, clinical workflows, clinical / biomedical equipment usage, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure effective orientation to team-based care delivery and the Vibrant Health care delivery model.
  • Organizes new employee orientation on unit by scheduling preceptors and times, intermittent follow-up, and providing oversight of orientation and competency of unit staff.
  • Competency Evaluation and Verification
  • Conduct initial and ongoing competency evaluations to verify clinical support staff meet organizational and regulatory clinical and safety standards.

  • Assess staff proficiency in clinical skills, documentation systems, workflows, and equipment utilization.
  • Provide feedback and create individualized learning / remediation plans as needed to address skill gaps.
  • Ongoing and Ad Hoc Training
  • Design and deliver training to address updates in clinical standards, compliance requirements, and / or organizational processes.

  • Respond to identified training needs, including (but not limited to) risk mitigation, quality assurance, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Collaborate with leadership and quality teams to implement targeted training programs to improve performance and enhance outcomes.
  • Models evidence-based practice and participates in the development and review of policies and procedures.
  • Annual Training and Competency Evaluations
  • Plan and execute annual training programs to maintain staff compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

  • Evaluate clinical competencies annually, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices and organizational policies.
  • Clinical Education Content Development
  • Create and maintain educational materials, including policies, procedures, protocols, and clinical guides.

  • Stay up to date on clinical best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies to ensure training materials remain current.
  • Support for Quality Improvement and Compliance
  • Partner with quality and risk management teams to identify areas for improvement and provide necessary staff education.

  • Participate in audits and reviews to ensure adherence to standards and recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Educate staff on compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and other regulatory standards.
  • Team Collaboration and Leadership
  • Act as a resource and mentor for clinical support staff, providing guidance on standards of care and best practices.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in team meetings and strategic planning related to staff development and training.
  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Active Unrestricted Registered Nurse Kansas (RN) license.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 1 year in education, training, or leadership roles.
  • Expertise in clinical standards of practice, scope of practice regulations, and team-based care delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare technology, including electronic health records (EHRs) and clinical equipment.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Expertise in designing and delivering multimodal education and training program content in highly effective formats for diverse adult learners that yields positive participant engagement and outcomes.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Individual must :

  • Exhibit experience and working knowledge of local community resources
  • Hold current drivers' license and reliable transportation.
  • Travel to all parts of the facility and throughout the community.
  • PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Experience in a FQHC, PCMH, or similar healthcare setting is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • Employment is contingent upon successful clearance from Criminal, Kansas and Missouri Child / Elder Abuse and Neglect, Sex Offender background investigations, TB testing, pre-employment drug testing, and verification of Hepatitis-B, flu and COVID-19 immunizations.
  • Occasional evening and weekend availability are required.
