A Resident Assistant serves as a caregiver, providing person-centered care to campus residents. This position directly supports the daily routines of residents, while ensuring a safe and comfortable environment that feels like home.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Aids with personal care tasks (washing, bathing, dressing) with dignity, respect and compassion
· Identifies and addresses the unique safety needs of persons with dementia.
Maintain the cleanliness of the buildings from Laundry, taking out trash, cleaning the bathrooms etc.
· Considers the person’s individual interests and preferences to maximize comfort, sense of well-being, and independence
· Helps the person to maintain their customary activities with people they love and involvement with extended friends in the community, as much as possible, for as long as possible
· Contributes to a vibrant (meaningful) dining experience, even when the individual is dependent on staff for assistance with meals – assists dining services staff with service and clean up as needed
· Identifies and validates feelings, expressed verbally or non-verbally, of the person, report any changes noticed to the Supervisor.
- complete documentions of all care established for the residents on a daily basis per State requirements.
· Demonstrates effective ways of listening to and communicating with someone who has dementia
· Resolves the person’s problems and anticipates the person’s needs, utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies
· Maintains a safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, calling for assistance from co-workers and/or members of the management team
· Vigilantly protects the person in our care and safeguards the wellbeing of others (families, co-workers, employees, and extended community members) by adhering to infection control policies and protocols, and security of community
· Contributes to care service plans by charting in the person’s record and department records as required
· Maintains continuity among staff teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
· Maintains individual and family member’s confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential
· Maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; notify when supplies are low; verifying receipt of supplies; using equipment and supplies as needed and required to accomplish job results
· Ensures simple housekeeping tasks are maintained, including but not limited cleaning dishes, vacuuming, wiping down tables, etc.
· Actively ensuring resident have adequate meal time, feeding residents
· Other duties as assigned
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
